Transparency is our standard. Below you will find substantive explanations of our breeding philosophy and breed history.

We reject the mystical narrative of palace guardians. While the breed has ancient roots, there is no historical evidence of its presence alongside high-ranking dignitaries – especially in Sichuan, a mountainous region far from the Imperial Court. The ancestors of today's Chongqing Dogs were utilitarian: hunting and guardian dogs used by the common people of the region.
It is our binary standard. Every breeding dog has a publicly available genetic profile (Embark) and clinical results for hip and elbow dysplasia (HD/ED) and cardiac efficiency (Echo/ECG). we make this data available to every potential owner – for us, medical facts are more important than subjective assurances based solely on observation.
It is one of the most advanced diagnostic tools in modern cynology. It allows us to screen for over 270 genetic diseases and precisely determine the Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI). This enables us to select breeding pairs to minimize the risk of hereditary diseases, prioritizing population health over mere aesthetics.
Following Raymond Coppinger’s philosophy, we believe that form must follow function. The primary function of our dogs is to be physically fit—capable of strenuous effort, efficient thermoregulation, and unobstructed breathing. Extreme brachycephaly is the antithesis of this function; therefore, we selectively breed for functional anatomy. We strictly adhere to the breed standard (1:2 muzzle-to-skull ratio), ensuring our dogs can live life to the fullest rather than becoming hostages to visual extremes.
Definitely not. These are dogs with raw ethology: independent, territorial, and highly intelligent. They require an owner who understands the psyche of a primitive breed. If you are looking for a submissive "lapdog," this breed is not for you. We seek people conscious of their authentic, demanding nature.
Yes. All our dogs have documented origins and pedigrees from the Polish Kennel Club (ZKwP/FCI). However, we treat the pedigree solely as a database of ancestors. For us, true breeding value is determined by clinical test results and mental stability, not by the number of show titles.
Shows are merely an element of socialization and building breed recognition for us. We do not participate in the chase for championships in competitions where we are the only representatives of the breed. We value health results and temperament tests more than medals. You are more likely to meet our dogs on a trekking trail than in the ring – that is where their real physical efficiency is put to the test.
We do not sell dogs impulsively. The process begins with a conversation about your experience, lifestyle, and expectations. We want to ensure that our dogs go to people who understand the "Form & Function" philosophy and are ready for a responsible partnership with this exceptional breed.
